Why do we suffer from anxiety?
One of the major functions of our subconscious mind is to keep us safe.
If you are faced with a dangerous and life threatening situation, you lose your ability for reasoned thought as your anxiety rises, until you reach a point where you become so anxious that the subconscious mind will kick in with the primitive fight or flight response.
This response is designed to save your life, and that’s all very well in truly life threatening situations. The problem is, that the subconscious mind hasn’t kept pace with the modern world, where there are many things which can cause us a great deal of anxiety - public speaking, interviews, work, debt, relationships, health, etc.
This is why, for people who suffer from anxiety, the feeling they get when faced with their ‘anxiety’ trigger, will feel for all the world like a life threatening situation.
Anxiety is also the foundation of insomnia, IBS, OCD, panic attacks, irrational fears and phobias.
We are all prone to anxiety, but also we all have the ability to control our anxiety.
How hypnotherapy will help
It is impossible to be anxious and relaxed at the same time, so Hypnotherapy will train you to relax your mind, helping you to release your anxiety. Hypnotherapy will also train you to learn new positive response patterns, so you can respond to situations in an appropriate way.
